Sampson

Full Name: Sampson

Gender: Male (gelding)

Character: Gentle Giant - guard, always on duty

Sampson came to the Triple-B Ranch from a nice little farm in Sullivan County where he was receiving terrific care - but some of the other animals (including those pesky miniature horses) didn't seem to like him and gave him a hard time, bullying him and hoarding the food. So he's joined our llama family and seems to have adjusted very well. He'll walk on a lead, hops up in the trailer without a second thought, and quickly learned that it's safe to take grain out of a human's hand. When the other llamas eat from your hand, it tickles. When he does it, you'd better count your fingers when he's done! Not really, of course, but he's a big boy and he eats like a champ! And yet he's not the boss around here - and will let just about any of his room-mates eat before he does. He often takes on the role of guard - keeping an eye on the dog, or whatever is around, while the others eat, positioning himself between them and what he views as potential threats. When the rest are gobbling up hay, Sampson is often facing in the opposite direction, guarding his herd. He and Danni often hang out together, grazing in the field - a typical Mutt and Jeff. And one of Sampson's ears doesn't follow the other one - which we think is just adorable.
